What is the best method of hunting deer in your area?
We use blinds that overlook feeders.

Do you take rifle hunters? Bow hunters?
We host mostly rifle hunters although bow hunters are also welcome. 

What is the success rate on a deer hunt?
Our hunts are fair-chase and are very successful most of the time.  Because they are fair-chase, however, we do not guarantee a kill.

What is the average point count on deer? average spread on deer?
Our management practices keep us in line with shooting only mature deer.  The typical point/spread on our deer range from 8 to 12 points and up with spreads ranging from
17 to 24 inches.

What is the average B&C score?
Bucks that we are willing to harvest start anywhere from 120 and can reach into the 170's.

Do you use protein feeders?
Yes, we use a 20% protein blend in our feeders and we feed year-round.

What is your buck to doe ratio?
We focus on keeping our buck to doe ratio around
1 to 1.5.

How many days is a typical hunt?
Typical hunts are 3 days

eather at the Varal Ranch is mostly dry with cold mornings warming up through the day.  Snow is an extreme rarity.  We suggest wearing layers of clothing (such as insulated cover-alls.)  Zapata Weather

What is an average length of shot?
When hunting from our tower blinds, an average shot to a feeder ranges from
100 to 200 yards.
